How to care for your drinking horn...

If you’ve never had an ox drinking horn before, it can be tricky to know how to properly care for it. Here are our top tips:

What you should do:

We recommend that you use your horn often, as regular use will help keep your horn clean. When you do use your drinking horn, wash it before use using cool water, a mild soap and a soft sponge. Dry with a soft towel.

As the horn is made from natural materials, it can be subject to developing odors. This can be avoided and rectified with just a few simple steps. To avoid smells from developing, keep on top of washing your drinking horn, and always wash before use. To neutralize any unpleasant smells, try rubbing lemon peel or a few drops of essential lemon oil on the interior of the horn. Leave to soak overnight and rinse. It’s best to use natural deodorizers where possible when it comes to cleaning and caring for your drinking horn

What you shouldn’t do:

To avoid damaging your drinking horn, do not put it in the dishwasher, and avoid letting it sit or soak in water. You should also avoid using hot water to clean your horn, as well as keeping it out of direct sunlight.

This novelty yet stylish item is made from truly stunning materials. If you follow our tips you can keep it looking great for years to come.
